Bleach follows Ichigo Kurosaki, a teenager who has always been able to see ghosts. However, his life changes drastically when he encounters Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper from the enigmatic Soul Society. During a battle with a Hollow—an evil spirit that targets humans with psychic energy—Rukia tries to pass some of her powers to Ichigo in order to save his family. But, unexpectedly, Ichigo absorbs all of her abilities, transforming into a full-fledged Soul Reaper. Now, Ichigo must protect the living from dangerous spirits while helping restless souls find peace. With Rukia slowly regaining her powers, the two embark on an action-packed journey filled with powerful battles and emotional moments. In 2005, Bleach was honored with the prestigious Shogakukan Manga Award in the Shounen category.
